Victor García-González, Ph.D.

The laboratory of Biochemistry is directed by Victor García-González, the lab has been in operation since 2014. It is focused on the study of the characterization of interactions that define the binding of lipids and proteins. Particularly, we have interested [LRV1] in the role of fatty acids on potentials[LRV2]  conformational changes in the secondary structure of the islet amyloid polypeptide or amylin. In turn, we study the cellular mechanisms that allow maintain the proteostasis [LRV3] in β cells of Langerhans, and their connection with diabetes mellitus type 2. The characterization of the unfolded protein response (UPR) is a keystone in our lab. Biochemistry lab is part of Universidad Autonoma de Baja California, School of Medicine-Mexicali, situated in the northwest region of Mexico.  [LRV1]We have a particular interest / Our particular interest lies  [LRV2]potential  [LRV3]the maintenance of proteostasis
